Lash Care and Questions

DON’T

-Get lashes wet for 12-24 hours (includes water, steam, sweat, tears).

-Use products on or near your lashes that contain oil. This can include cosmetics, makeup removers, cleansers, and moisturizers. Do not use anything waterproof. Mascara (even “lash safe”) is not recommended.

-Pull, tug, or rub your new lashes. The less you touch your lashes, the longer they will last between fills.  Pulling lashes out before they are ready can cause permanent damage to natural lashes.

-Worry when you lose an extension (or three). Each extension will fall out with its natural growth cycle. This is why fills are necessary!

DO

-Wash lashes gently using an oil free lash shampoo daily. A build up of dust, makeup and natural skin oil on the lash line affects the durability of eyelash adhesive and could lead to potential skin problems around your eyes.

-Groom lashes daily. Brush lashes daily and/or use low, cool setting on blow dryer when wet. Do not touch or groom excessively.

-Schedule regular fills every 2-3 weeks as necessary.

-Ensure your lashes are clean and free of mascara and makeup when coming in for your fill appointment. Any residue will prevent proper bonding between your natural lashes and the extensions.

-Communicate with your lash technician to get the look you desire. There are lots of factors that can go into the look and we can work together to make sure you are happy with your lashes.

-Call or text if you have any questions or concerns!

Questions

What are the different kinds of extensions? I see classic, hybrid, and volume?

A classic lash set is where one lash extension is applied to one natural lash. Your stylist will choose a lash diameter and length that is safe for your lashes without sacrificing your natural lash health. A volume set is where lighter diameter lashes are used so multiple lash extensions can safely be applied to one natural lash. A hybrid set is a combination of the two lash styles. Which is right for you? Ask your lash stylist, we are extensively trained to help you get your best look!

I have heard that lash extension can ruin your natural lashes…?

When properly applied and cared for, lash extension should cause absolutely no damage to your natural lashes. Extensive training and practice go into every lash set produced at Glitter and Glow to make sure your natural lash health is the upmost importance. Unfortunately, not all lash artists adhere to this philosophy so extra time and charge is required to fill on someone else’s work.
